NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The David Williams Fall Classic, a fall exhibition featuring Vanderbilt and Michigan on Nov. 10 at Hawkins Field, has been bumped to a noon first pitch with the game set to air on the SEC Network Plus. Admission is free.
Joe Fisher (play-by-play), Andrew Harris (color), Erin Dugan (sideline) and Max Herz (sideline) will be on the call. SEC Network subscribers can stream the College World Series finals rematch through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on connected devices.
The event pays tribute to Nashville’s rich and diverse baseball tradition. The Commodores will participate as the Nashville Stars while Michigan will compete as the Detroit Stars, both former Negro Major League teams. Prior to the game, Vanderbilt Athletics — alongside the two teams — will recognize Williams’ family.
The first 300 fans through the gate will receive a Vanderbilt mini desk helmet while all fans will receive a complimentary t-shirt. Kids eighth grade and younger are welcome to join the clubs on the field for the national anthem in addition to running the bases postgame.
The new-look Commodores, who welcome 15 freshmen to a club that posted an SEC-record 59 wins a season ago, defeated Oklahoma State, 12-7 in Kansas City, Missouri, in their first fall competition. Vanderbilt clubbed three home runs and posted a 2.25 ERA.
