Friday’s action at The Hawk is part of “Weekend on West End” where fans can earn a spot at football’s Star Walk on Saturday by checking in at the marketing table at five Vanderbilt athletic events.
The David Williams Fall Classic celebrates the life and legacy of former Vanderbilt vice chancellor and athletics director David Williams. During Williams’ tenure, Vanderbilt won four national championships. The Commodores also won 19 league titles, and the football team advanced to six bowl games.
As athletics director, Williams focused on elevating the student-athlete experience and highlighting the intersection of sports and society. He was the first black athletics director in the SEC and first black vice chancellor at Vanderbilt. Williams passed away in 2019.
