David Price Leads Black To 5-0 Win Over Gold 10/14/2005 Nashville, Tenn. – Sophomore lefthander David Price struck out eight batters in five scoreless innings to lead the Black squad to a 5-0 win over the Gold team Friday night in the first game of the Black and Gold series at Hawkins Field. Price allowed only two hits with just one walk in the contest. Sophomore righthander Tyler Rhoden pitched a scoreless inning of relief in the sixth, while sophomore southpaw Cameron Betourne closed out the game with three shutout innings to record the save. The trio combined to strikeout 14 Gold batters on the night. Junior college transfer Matt Meingasner staked the Black team to a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBi single. They added a run (unearned) in the second and another in the sixth on a RBI double by sophomore first baseman Adam Cronk. UCLA transfer Parker Hanks capped off the impressive night for the Black squad with a two-run homer over the leftfield wall in the ninth. Senior Brian Hernandez and freshman Kurt Lipton led the Gold team with a couple of hits each.
