DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Vanderbilt sophomore Jacqui Concolino carded a 1-over-par 73 to move into a tie for fourth place at 1-under 217 Thursday during third round play at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship at the LPGA International Legends Course (Par 72, 6,351 yards).

Concolino is tied with TCU’s Catherine Matranga and Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst seven shots behind tournament leader Christel Boeljon of Purdue. Boeljon fired her second consecutive 3-under 69 to remain atop the individual leaderboard at 6-under 210.

Starting the day at the 10th hole, Concolino was 1-under through 14 holes with birdies at No. 13 and No. 17. However, bogeys at No. 6 and No. 8 slowed her momentum near the close of her round.

“I started off well until the sixth hole where I misjudged the wind off the tee and hit my ball too far,” Concolino said. “Then I made a mental lapse and lost a shot at No. 8. If I want to win this tournament tomorrow I need to come out and be aggressive, make some birdies and get some luck.”

“Jacqui played well all day but is probably frustrated over how she played on a couple of holes,” head coach Martha Richards said. “She’s a competitor though and will fight hard (on Friday).”

The Commodores moved up three spots in the team standings into a tie with Stanford for fifth place at 39-over 903 following their best round of the tournament at 10-over 298. Vanderbilt is 23 shots behind team leader Duke (880). The Blue Devils are eight shots ahead of Purdue (888) and will attempt to win their third consecutive national title on Friday.

Vanderbilt senior Chris Brady jumped 27 positions in the individual standings into a five-way tie for 36th place at 12-over 228 after posting a 1-over 73 in the third round. Brady registered four birdies on the day and played the front nine at even par.

Fellow senior Kristen Svicarovich slipped 11 places into a seven-way tie for 42nd place at 13-over 229 after finishing Thursday at 6-over 78. Svicarovich finished 2-over on the front side after finishing the back nine with consecutive double bogeys on No. 17 and No. 18.

Junior Liebelei Lawrence had the third-best round of the day by a Commodore with a 3-over 75 to climb into a tie for 63rd place with four other players at 16-over 232.

“Chris and Liebelei played much better today,” Richards said. “Both hit the ball well, made good swings and were very consistent.”

Freshman Brooke Goodwin finished the third day with her best round of the tournament, a 5-over 77 to move into a tie for 78th place at 19-over 235.

“I’m pleased that we’ve gotten better each day of the tournament,” Richards said. “We need to continue to improve and continue to eliminate the big numbers.”

Final round action begins Friday at 7 a.m. CT. Vanderbilt tees off with Georgia and Stanford from the first hole at 12:30 p.m. CT.
