Weekend Preview: Vanderbilt hosts No. 16 Oklahoma for a three-game series beginning Thursday. The series marks Oklahoma’s first visit to Hawkins Field as an SEC member.

  • The all-time series is tied at 4-4. Oklahoma won the series last season in Norman but Vanderbilt has won the last two meetings, taking the series finale and defeating the Sooners at the SEC Tournament.
  • The Dores have split the first four SEC series this season. Vandy won both home series against LSU and Tennessee and dropped both series on the road at Mississippi State and Texas A&M.

Power Surge: Vanderbilt has hit 73 home runs this season, already surpassing last season’s total of 66. 

  • The Commodores rank second in DI and have homered in all but seven games this season.
  • Vanderbilt’s .965 team OPS ranks 16th in DI.
  • Vanderbilt has hit five grand slams, already surpassing last season’s total.
  • Vandy’s seven homers in the win over North Dakota State on March 6 was the most in a game for the Dores since 2018.

Brooks Wallace Award Watch List: Ryker Waite was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List on March 4.

  • Waite is one of 100 shortstops on the list. He is hitting .296 this season with 15 extra-base hits, 24 RBI and a team-leading 31 walks.
  • Defensively, Waite has 7.42 defensive runs saved, good for sixth nationally among shortstops according to D1Baseball’s Synergy Leaderboard.
  • The Arizona native has reached base in 30 of 34 games this spring.
  • Waite’s 31 walks are fourth in the SEC, 29th in DI.
  • The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year.

Walk This Way: Vanderbilt’s 192 walks rank 20th among DI programs.

  • Ryker Waite leads the team with 31 walks.
  • Second on the team is Logan Johnstone and Mike Mancini with 27. Waite is fourth in the SEC while Johnstone and Mancini rank eighth.
  • After drawing 10 walks last season, Brodie Johnston has already surpassed that total as a sophomore, currently sitting at 19.
  • Speaking of getting on base, Waite has reached safely in all but four games this season while Mancini has reached in 20 consecutive games.

Brodie Barrels: Brodie Johnston ranks fourth in the SEC in hits and doubles.

  • The sophomore has 12 two-baggers this season. He leads the team in total bases (90), good for fifth in the SEC and 25th in DI.
  • Johnston’s 15 long balls in 2025 were the most by a Vanderbilt freshman since Pedro Alvarez hit 22 in 2006.
  • He was named MVP of the 2025 SEC Tournament as a freshman.

Be Like Mike: Mike Mancini leads the team and is sixth in the SEC in OPS at 1.192.

  • The senior is eighth in the SEC in both slugging and walks.
  • Mancini is second on the team in home runs with 10 and leads the team in stolen bases with 10 in 10 attempts.
  • In SEC play, he is hitting .333 with six home runs, 12 RBI and 13 walks, all team highs.

Barczi Bombs: Colin Barczi belted three home runs in the season-opener against No. 10 TCU to become the first Commodore since Connor Kaiser in 2018 with a three-homer game.

  • Barczi’s homers traveled a combined 1,340 feet with each surpassing 430 feet.
  • After missing time due to injury, Barczi again hit three home runs in a game at Texas A&M on April 2 to become the first Commodore in program history with multiple three-home run games.
  • All six of his homers this season have come in two games, both in the state of Texas.
  • Barczi is tied for fifth in home runs amongst players with less than 75 plate appearances.

TGoodi on the Mic: In just 24 at-bats in SEC play, Tommy Goodin has hit five home runs.

  • The sophomore has eight homers on the season in just 74 plate appearances. Among DI hitters with less than 75 plate appearances, Goodin’s eight home runs are tied for second.
  • With Vanderbilt trailing Tennessee by three runs in the ninth on March 29, Goodin launched a pinch-hit grand slam to lead the Dores past the Vols.
  • A musician off the field, Goodin’s walk-up music is self-made.

Turning Two: Vanderbilt has turned 33 double plays this season, more than any SEC team and fourth in DI.

  • The Dores have at least one double play in all but nine games this season.
