Nashville, Tenn. — No. 3 Vanderbilt is set to appear on national television 12 times this season as part of the Southeastern Conference’s television slate that features 90-plus games across the ESPN family of networks.
Hawkins Field will be featured four times across the country beginning on opening weekend of SEC play when No. 15 Mississippi State visits Nashville. The Saturday game against the Bulldogs will start at 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network. The Dores host No. 17 South Carolina in late March with the team’s first Thursday night game of the year on March 31 on ESPNU at 7 p.m. The Saturday tilt against the Gamecocks will air on SEC Network at 2 p.m. The Battle of the Barrel against No. 2 Louisville is set for May 10 at 6 p.m. on SEC Network.
Eight of Vanderbilt’s 15 league road games will air on national television beginning with the Dores’ trip to Missouri. Two of the three games against the Tigers will air on the SEC Network with Saturday (March 26) night’s game set for 5 p.m. and Sunday’s finale at noon (March 27). The Commodores are again in the national spotlight on a Thursday (April 7) night in Baton Rouge when the No. 7 Tigers and Dores square off on SEC Network at 6 p.m. Friday (April 8) night’s game at LSU will also air on the Network at 6 p.m. Vandy will be featured in the Thursday night national spotlight for a third time when the Commodores travel to No. 4 Texas A&M for the first time in history on May 5. The series opener is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPNU. The series finale on Saturday (May 7) will air on the SEC Network at 2:30 p.m. The Commodores wrap up the road portion of the league schedule at top-ranked Florida with two games on national TV. Saturday’s (May 14) game is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN2 with the series finale on Sunday (May 15) on SEC Network at noon.
The Commodores’ SEC opener against Mississippi State on March 18 will be a part of the popular Bases Loaded package with all seven league match-ups included in the package. First pitch for the Dores and Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m.
New for 2016, all Vanderbilt home games not selected for television will be fully produced for SEC Network+ with the broadcast team of Kevin Ingram and former Commodore Andrew Harris returning for their second season along with sideline reporter Max Herz.
Vanderbilt is set to open preseason practice on January 29 to begin preparation for the season lid lifter against San Diego on February 19.
