KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team went undefeated in seven singles matches and three doubles matches on Thursday on Day 1 of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship in Knoxville, Tennessee.
All of the Commodores’ singles victories came in straight-set fashion.
Thursday’s action was highlighted by the ninth singles victories of the season for Celia-Belle Mohr, Sonya Macavei and Bridget Stammel.
In doubles play, Holly Staff and Dasha Kourkina defeated ETSU’s Daniela Rivera and Emilia Alfaro, 8-5. The senior/freshman duo of Macavei and Marcella Cruz was an 8-4 winner over Kentucky’s Florencia Urrutia and Lidia Gonzalez, while Mohr and Stammel cruised to an 8-1 win against Imani Graham and Kat Lyman of Xavier.
Play in Knoxville continues Friday.
