The No. 9 Vanderbilt Commodores opened preseason practice on Friday afternoon at Hawkins Field despite Mother Nature not providing baseball weather.

With temps hovering around freezing, the Dores took the field for the first official practice of 2014 working on fundamental base running and fielding before wrapping up with a scrimmage. The scrimmage featured two of the squad’s prominent arms in Tyler Beede and Walker Buehler. Both hurlers threw the ball well despite tough conditions.

Vanderbilt returns to the practice field tomorrow morning at approximately 10 a.m. Fans are encouraged to attend and may enter Hawkins Field via the gate on Jess Neely Drive.
