Commodores Ink Newest Class

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt football coach Clark Lea has announced the addition of 21 student-athletes to his program as part of Wednesday’s National Signing Day.

With a Rivals team ranking of 38, both of Lea’s first two full signing classes rank in the top 40 nationally. The last time a Vanderbilt coach put together consecutive top-40 classes was 2012-13.

Checking in at No. 49 in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Lea’s signing classes have both ranked among the nation’s top 50. It marks the first time Vanderbilt has had consecutive top-50 classes since 2011-15.

The class is ranked in the top 55 nationally by all four major services (247Sports, Rivals, ESPN and On3). 

The group features signees from 11 states, including five each from Texas and Tennessee. Three players hail from the greater Nashville area.

Three members of the class – Sedrick Alexander, Ethan Crisp and Jailen Ruth – intend to enroll at Vanderbilt in January.
