For the second year in a row, Ole Miss kicker Jonathan Nichols was the deciding factor in the game. Last year, Nichols’ 54-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter gave the Rebels a season-opening victory.

Today his 35-yard field goal won the game for the Rebels in overtime.

Entering today’s game, Vanderbilt was 2-2 in overtime contests, most recently losing to Georgia Tech last year, 17-24. Ole Miss entered the game 5-3 in overtime games.

The Commodores’ last SEC road win came in 2000 when they beat Kentucky, 24-20. They travel to Annapolis, Md., next Saturday to face a non-conference foe, the Naval Academy Midshipmen.
