Commodores Defend Nashville

Vanderbilt beats Eastern Kentucky 92-62

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s basketball defended Memorial Gymnasium on Wednesday night with a 92-62 victory over Eastern Kentucky.

Vanderbilt played a complete game, never trailing EKU after the opening minute of the first half. The Commodores grew their lead throughout the period, closing the half up 18 points from multiple scoring runs. Out of the break, Vanderbilt extended the lead, crafting a 12-point run that put the Dores up 30 with 15 minutes to play.

The Commodore defense brought pressure all night, matching season highs with 13 steals and six blocks. Vanderbilt held EKU to just 33 percent from the field and 24 percent from beyond the arc. They also commanded the interior, notching 50 points in the paint and grabbing a season-high 48 rebounds.

The Commodores once again had five players score in double-figures. Tyler Harris led the Vanderbilt offense with 17 points and seven rebounds. Duke Miles added 15 points with five assists. Tyler Tanner had 13 points, closing out his night with a slam dunk that brought the house down. AK Okereke totaled 11 points and grabbed seven boards while Devin McGlockton matched with 11 points of his own.

Vanderbilt continues its homestand against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday at 2 p.m.
