Commodores Baseball team signs exclusive multi-year agreement with Wilson Sporting Goods

CHICAGO, IL.–December 20, 2005–Vanderbilt University baseball has signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. The Vanderbilt baseball team, who was recently recognized by Baseball America as having the #1 recruiting class in the nation, has committed to a multi-year agreement to use Wilson baseball equipment, including DeMarini bats.

Since the summer of 2003, Wilson and DeMarini have experienced substantial growth in college baseball representation. Top college programs using Wilson-branded products include Arizona State, New Mexico State, University of California/Davis, Kansas State, College of Charleston, Boston College, Lamar, Winthrop, Southern University and Oregon State University.

“In just 3 years at the helm of the Commodores baseball program, Tim Corbin has Vanderbilt competing in the elite ranks of major college baseball”, said Wilson Baseball Business Manager Pat Ryan. “We are proud to be associated with Coach Corbin and Vandy baseball.

As part of the agreement with Wilson, the Vanderbilt Commodores will perform exclusively with DeMarini bats, as well as Wilson Pro Stock gloves, helmets, uniforms and protective gear. DeMarini recently released its new line of Voodoo and Vexxum bats, which are designed to accommodate varying hitting styles.

“We are very familiar with the Wilson and DeMarini products,” said Coach Tim Corbin. “Their commitment to making quality products and providing the best service make Wilson a great fit for our team as we compete in the SEC and ultimately for a trip to Omaha.

With the outstanding leadership of Coach Tim Corbin, the Commodores set a school record of 45 wins and dominated the Southeastern Conference statistics, ranking first in the SEC for Earned Run Average and fourth in batting average. The Commodores also earned second in the nation in fielding with a .978 percentage. Vanderbilt went on to finish the 2004 season with a .703 winning percentage. They look to build on this success in 2006.

Established in 1989, DeMarini Sports took the bat industry by storm with the world’s first high-tech softball bat. Acquired by Wilson Sporting Goods in 2000, DeMarini continues to research, design and build high-performance softball and baseball bats in its state-of-the-art Hillsboro, Oregon facility.
