NASHVILLE, Tenn. –– A career day from Tyler Tanner was not enough as the No. 15 Vanderbilt Commodores (19-4, 6-4 SEC) men’s basketball team fell at Memorial to Oklahoma (12-12, 2-9 SEC) on Saturday 92 to 91.
The Commodores fell behind early to the Sooners and Oklahoma took a 14-point lead into the break. Despite a ferocious comeback late in the second half that saw Vanderbilt have the ball down one possession, the Commodores were unable to bring home the win.
Tyler Tanner scored a career-high 37 points, 15 of which in the final two minutes, while adding nine assists and five steals. Tanner was the first Commodore to score more than 35 points since Scotty Pippen Jr. had 36 at Cincinnati in 2021. Tyler Nickel nailed four threes on his way to 15 points. AK Okereke had a late four-point play to total 13 points. Devin McGlockton had nine points and eight rebounds. Jalen Washington added four points and nine boards.
