NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt used seven pitchers Tuesday night in a combined shutout over Eastern Kentucky with the Commodores coming out on top, 3-0.
Connor Hamilton, Jacob Faulkner, Nate Taylor, Miller Green, Nate Schlote, Luke Guth and Tyler Baird all worked at least one inning in the win. Faulkner earned the victory with three innings of work and Baird took the save, his second in the last four games.
For Green, it was his first appearance of the season after missing time due to injury.
The Commodores allowed just three hits and tallied nine strikeouts.
On offense, Brodie Johnston hit his 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the first. The two-run blast was the game’s only score until the eighth inning when Logan Johnstone added an insurance run with an RBI single to score Braden Holcomb.
Vanderbilt improves to 20-14 and will host a three-game series against No. 16 Oklahoma beginning Thursday at Hawkins Field.
