Volunteer Assistance Coach

Head coach Geoff Macdonald and the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team is excited to announce that Vincent “Boomer” Saia has joined the Commodore staff as interim assistant coach. 

“We are delighted to add Boomer Saia to the tennis staff,” said Macdonald. “He comes from a family of coaches. His dad was a junior college football coach and athletics director in Kansas and his brother is the defensive coordinator at Southeast Missouri State. He’s a great recruiter, a very knowledgeable on court coach and has an extraordinary work ethic. 

Following the return of associate head coach, Aleke Tsoubanos, from maternity leave; Saia will remain on the Vandy staff as the Volunteer assistant coach.

Saia joins the Commodores after two seasons with the University of Oklahoma’s women’s tennis team. Prior to coaching with the Sooners, the Arkansas City, Kansas native, was the volunteer assistant coach for the Kansas women’s tennis team for four years. 

“I’m really excited to be here at Vanderbilt with Geoff and Aleke,” said Saia. “It’s such a prestigious program and an unbelievable experience. I feel lucky to have the opportunity, and I’m very excited to get the season underway.” 

During his time at Kansas, Saia saw the team reach a program high ranking when the team reached No. 33 in the ITA polls.

Saia received his Bachelor of Science degree in sports management with a minor in business from the University of Kansas. He also earned his masters of education with emphasis in sports administration from the University of Kansas.
