NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Before the season began, Simone Charley and Lydia Simmons were tabbed as SEC Players to Watch.

The Vanderbilt duo backed up the preseason billing. On Sunday, Charley was named to the All-SEC First Team and Simmons earned SEC All-Freshman honors.

Charley, an SEC All-Freshman forward in 2013, led the team with nine goals and 21 points and was tied for the team lead with three assists. The sophomore from Hoover, Ala., scored six goals in her last six games and accounted for seven of the team’s nine SEC goals.

Charley, an All-American in the triple jump, started in her first 17 games and is the team’s active leader in goals with 14 over first two seasons.

Simmons shared the team lead with Charley and senior Ashley Oswald with three assists. The redshirt freshman from Londonderry, N.H., started 18 of 19 games and provided solid footwork in the midfield after recovering from an injury in 2013. The Commodores finished the season 7-10-2 overall and 2-7-2 in SEC play. It was the program’s most win in three years.
