Vanderbilt heads out to Carlsbad, California, May 24-29 for the 2024 NCAA Men's Golf Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif. – The No. 2-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team heads out to the Golden State looking for the program’s first team national title, as the Commodores are set to participate in the 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship on May 24-29 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.

Tournament Format
The 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship features 72 holes of stroke play and three rounds of match play. The NCAA Championship takes place May 24-29 on the North Course at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.

All 30 teams and six individuals will play one 18-hole round per day, with the first three rounds taking place on Friday through Sunday. After Round 3, the top 15 teams and the top nine individuals from non-advancing teams will move on to Round 4 on Monday.

The top eight teams at the end of stroke play move on to match play. The quarterfinals will take place the morning of May 28, while the semifinals will be played later that afternoon. The 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship title match is set for May 29 and will be broadcast live on GOLF Channel.

Course Information
Teams will play on the North Course at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. It is a 7,538-yard course that plays as a par 72. The 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship will be just the second tournament held at the Omni La Costa North Course, as the 2024 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship was the debut event.

Stroke Play Tee Times
Rounds 1-3 of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship tee off at 8:40 a.m. CT. Round 4 of stroke play begins at 12:30 p.m. CT on Monday.

Vanderbilt tees off Round 1 on Friday at 2 p.m. CT from the 10th tee. The Commodores begin Round 2 at 8:40 a.m. CT on Saturday from the first tee. Tee times for Rounds 3 and 4 will be set after the previous round.

Match Play
The top eight teams at the end of stroke play advance to match play at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. The quarterfinals will begin Tuesday at 8:50 a.m. CT, with the semifinal matches taking place that afternoon starting at 3:15 p.m. CT. The title match at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship is Wednesday starting at 4:15 p.m. CT.

GOLF Channel Coverage
The GOLF Channel will cover the final round of stroke play and all three rounds of match play at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. Golf Today will have coverage from 3-5 p.m. CT with live coverage taking place from 5-9 p.m. CT each day.

The Field
A total of 30 teams and six individuals will compete at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.

Teams along with Vanderbilt include Auburn, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, Virginia, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Arizona, Illinois, Florida, Georgia Tech, East Tennessee State, California, Texas A&M, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Stanford, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Baylor, Ohio State, North Florida, LSU, SMU, Clemson, West Virginia, and Utah.

The individuals are Ethan Evans (Duke), Cameron Huss (Wisconsin), Nick Mathews (NC State), Ben Warian (Minnesota), Andi Xu (San Diego), and Kelvin Hernandez (UNCG).

Vanderbilt at the NCAA Championship
This marks the 13th appearance for the Commodores at an NCAA Men’s Golf Championship event. It is Vandy’s 10th-straight season competing at the NCAA Championship.

The Commodores have won stroke play at the NCAA Championship in 2017 and 2022. Vanderbilt has appeared in match play a total of six times. The Dores have advanced to the semifinals in 2017, 2019, and 2022.

Junior Gordon Sargent won the individual national championship as a freshman at the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship after finishing at even par 280. He is the lone Commodore to win the NCAA men’s golf individual national title.

Last Time Out
Vanderbilt won its third-ever NCAA Regional event, as the Commodores claimed first place at the 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional. Vandy carded 24-under 840 over three rounds of play at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

Graduate student William Moll became the first Commodore to win the individual title at an NCAA Regional, as the Houston, Texas, native, won the West Lafayette Regional with a three-round score of 7-under 209. A total of four Dores posted top-10 finishes at the 2024 NCAA West Lafayette Regional.
