NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s own Marie Casares has been representing her home country of Ecuador in this week’s Fed Cup qualifiers in Las Palmas, Bolivia.
“We’re just thrilled that Marie is representing her country in Fed Cup play in South America”, said head coach Geoff Macdonald. She was such an integral part of our program for four years and was such a key player on our national championship run. We’re thrilled that she continues to play tennis on the international stage.”
While the Ecuadorian team fell to Brazil and Argentina, the recent Vandy grad was an amazing leader for the 2015 squad, and helped make Vanderbilt history by clinching the 2015 SEC Championship.
While the NCAA Championship was a dream come true for the 2015 ITA Ohio Valley Senior Player of the Year, her dream of still playing tennis, all with a degree in engineering, is still alive and well.
