NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt student-athlete Jack Bulger was named SEC Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Bulger registered six hits across the weekend to help Vanderbilt claim a series win over fifth-ranked Tennessee. He posted back-t-back three hit outings to close out the road series in Knoxville.
The Bowie, Maryland, native added two RBI to his totals in the series finale top help the Commodores clinch their first series win over a top-five ranked opponent since taking two of three at then-No. 4 Florida on May 8-10, 2014.
He also scored three runs on the week and secured his first stolen base of the season. The freshman leads the team in batting average in SEC play, hitting at a .375 clip, with a team-high tying 18 hits.
Bulger becomes the sixth different Vanderbilt student-athlete to earn conference honors, joining teammates, Jayson Gonzalez, Carter Young, Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker and Dominic Keegan.
Bulger shared the honor with Cayden Wallace of Arkansas.
