Commodore duo receives conference recognition

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt baseball duo of Enrique Bradfield Jr. and Carter Holton received weekly SEC honors, announced by the conference office on Monday.

Bradfield was named SEC Player of the Week, while Holton was tabbed SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Bradfield batted .474 (9-for-19) on the week, including at least one hit in all four games to help Vanderbilt to a 3-1 record. He went .615 (8-for-13) at the plate in the series at No. 4 Arkansas, including multi-hit outings in all three games to help the Commodores take the series in Fayetteville.

Bradfield belted the game-winning home run in the 10th inning on Friday and went a perfect 8-for-8 on stolen base attempts with multiple stolen bases in three of four contests last week.

Holton tossed 7.0 shutout innings while striking out five to help the Commodores clinch the series against No. 4 Arkansas on the road. Holton notched his second complete game on the season, while picking up his seventh win this year. He limited the Razorbacks to two hits on the afternoon.

With the honor, Bradfield picks up his first conference honor of the season, while Holton earns his third weekly award. Five different Commodores have earned weekly conference awards this season, including Davis Diaz, Tate Kolwyck and Chris McElvain.

Vanderbilt will return to action on Tuesday evening, welcoming Middle Tennessee State to Hawkins Field for a midweek matchup. First pitch is set for 6 p.m., with action airing on SEC Network+.
