Boclair elected to CoSIDA Hall of Fame

May 26, 2009

Tammy Boclair, a former member of Vanderbilt’s media relations department, has been elected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame, the organization announced.

She will be formally inducted along with four others from the college and university divisions during CoSIDA’s annual convention and workshop, June 21-25 at San Antonio.

In 2004 Boclair became just the second woman to serve as CoSIDA President. The first, June Stewart, also worked at Vanderbilt and is a member of the CoSIDA, Vanderbilt and the Tennessee Sports Halls of Fame.

Boclair also has served CoSIDA for more than a quarter century as a member of its board of directors and on multiple committees. She has received numerous awards for her publications, including No. 1 overall for her 1999-00 Vanderbilt women’s basketball media guide.

She worked at Vanderbilt from 1996 through 2005. Initially hired as the university’s first full-time women’s basketball media relations director, she later also worked with the baseball team, the women’s golf team and the men’s and women’s soccer teams.

Before Vanderbilt, she consistently broke gender barriers with positions at the Southland Conference (1992-95), Louisiana State University (1988-92) and Stephen F. Austin University (1985-88).

Currently she is a vice president with Alday Communications, Inc. in Franklin.

CoSIDA was founded in 1957 to help sports information professionals at all levels of intercollegiate athletics. Currently it has more than 2,300 members in the United States and Canada.
