Blakes Named to USA Basketball's 2025 Women's AmeriCup Team

The standout guard will represent Team USA in Santiago, Chile, from June 28 to July 6

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Vanderbilt women’s basketball standout Mikayla Blakes was selected to USA Basketball’s 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup Team and will don the Red, White and Blue from June 28-July 6 in Santiago, Chile.

Blakes was one of 12 players selected to Team USA for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup roster. It will be the second time that Blakes has worn the Stars and Stripes, as she played for the United States at the 2024 Nike Hoops Summit.

The 2025 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team will open Group B with host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The full schedule is available here. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, set to be held in Berlin next summer.

Blakes averaged a team-best 23.3 points per game en route to being named the USBWA Tamika Catchings National Freshman of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year. She was named an All-American by seven different publications during her freshman season.

The guard rewrote the NCAA, SEC and Vanderbilt record books multiple times this past season. Her 55-point performance at Auburn on Feb. 16 set the NCAA freshman single-game and SEC single-game scoring records. She previously set the SEC single-game and NCAA true freshman scoring records on Jan. 30 with a 53-point effort at Florida. Blakes also set the Vanderbilt single-game scoring record on three separate occasions this season.

The 2025 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team includes Raegan Beers, Mikayla Blakes, Madison Booker, Audi Crooks, Joyce Edwards, Hannah Hidalgo, Flau’jae Johnson, Gianna Kneepkens, Olivia Miles, Kennedy Smith, Hannah Stuelke and Grace VanSlooten.
