NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The David Williams Fall Classic concluded Friday night with a 3-0 win by the Black squad to take the series two games to one.
Cody Bowker got the start on the mound after three scoreless innings in Game 1. Bowker once again held Gold scoreless over three frames Friday night, striking out three and holding Gold to just two hits.
Brennan Seiber came on in relief in the fourth and turned in three more scoreless innings, registering five strikeouts with just one hit allowed.
Sawyer Hawks finished off the combined shutout with a scoreless seventh inning as Black won the game and the series.
Matthew Shorey tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in the start for Gold. The game remained 0-0 until the top of the fifth when Black finally broke through.
With Tommy Goodin on first and two outs, RJ Hamilton lined a triple off the wall in right field to bring home Goodin for the game’s first run.
Black stretched its lead in the top of the seventh with a run on a balk and an RBI single by JD Rogers. Rogers finished the night 3-for-4 with an RBI.
