Nicole Mosesso is a junior from Centerville, Ohio, on the bowling team. As a high school senior, she won the Alberta Crowe Award, symbolic of the nation’s top high school bowler.
How did you end up at Vanderbilt?
I knew going into college that I wanted to compete at the collegiate level in bowling. I also wanted to go to a school that would challenge me because academics have always been important to me. Vanderbilt was the best of both worlds. They had one of the top ranked bowling programs and were ranked among the top 20 national universities. After visiting the campus my senior year in high school, I knew Vanderbilt was going to be my home for the next four years.

Why did you get into bowling?
When I was younger, I watched my dad bowl in leagues. It always looked like something fun to do and one day I decided I wanted to try it out myself. I wasn’t very good in the beginning, but I watched my brother bowl for his high school and realized that was something I wanted to do as well. With my dad as my coach, I grew to love the sport and never looked back.
What inspires you?
Recently my boyfriend of two and a half years was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He is only 21 years old and already going through one of the scariest experiences of his life. Every two weeks he receives chemotherapy treatments to beat this horrible disease. He is the strongest person I know and his fight against cancer is my inspiration for everything I do.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart. You never know when you may have that chance again.

What was your first job?
I actually was a dancer for 13 years, so my first job was at a dance studio as a student instructor.
Where would you travel?
My grandparents grew up in Italy before they immigrated to the United States. It had been a life long dream of mine to travel to Italy and luckily I was granted that opportunity my freshman year in college. I got to travel with the bowling team to Italy, specifically Rome and Florence. One day, however, I would like to travel to the small town of Castel Del Giudice where my grandparents grew up.
What will you be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to be an occupational therapist helping patients recover and improve on the skills needed for daily living. I hope to be married and have one or two children.
