NASHVILLE, Tenn. –Vanderbilt senior Amy Baumann was named to the Southeastern Conference’s Soccer Community Service Team the league office announced today.

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

Baumann mentors at the Magness Potter Community Center in East Nashville. Every Monday, she helps out in the Teen Center where they do different activities, helps with homework, and spends time with a group of teens who live in a high poverty area of Nashville. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native has also volunteered at Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital and two summers ago she worked at the Martha O’Bryan Center, an organization that helps with a lot of different aspects of poverty in Nashville.

She recently completed her athletic career at Vanderbilt, having started in 57 of 81 games played, including every contest the last two seasons. Baumann came on strong last year, earning second team All-SEC honors after scoring a career best eight goals and three assists to lead the Commodores.

She will graduate with a human and organizational development degree with a minor in child development.

“Amy has been an incredibly hard worker for us over her four years here and has a type of personality that is all-inspiring,” said Vanderbilt head coach Ronnie Coveleskie. “She motivates, inspires and walks exactly as she talks. She is committed to being successful in everything she does. She is very deserving of this honor and Amy will be sorely missed in our program.”
