Vanderbilt visits East Carolina on ESPN+

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt lacrosse will travel to Greenville, North Carolina, to face American Athletic Conference foe East Carolina at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday.

Last Outing

Vanderbilt tallied its first AAC win against Old Dominion last Saturday. The Commodores took an early 2-0 lead during the opening frame. The Dores had a 9-2 lead at the break, fueled by seven goals from seven different student-athletes.

In the third, the Vanderbilt attack continued with Nancy Halleron claiming her third hat trick of the year as she scored back-to-back goals. The Monarchs responded with three quick goals to end the third quarter with a score of 11-6.

Vanderbilt scored six goals in the final frame to Old Dominion’s one, holding on to the win 17-7.

The Pirate Report

East Carolina is 1-2 in its last three games, the lone win coming with a 7-5 decision at Old Dominion in its conference opener. Since then, the Pirates have dropped two-consecutive contests to No. 18 Duke (13-10) and Mercer (13-8).

East Carolina is 1-0 in AAC play and has the highest shot percentage in the conference at 49.5 percent and averages 13.5 goals per game. Senior Frances Kimel leads the AAC in assists per game (2.09) and has the third-most goals per game (2.09). In the cage, Brynn Knight leads the league in save percentage at 50.9 percent.

Series History

Saturday’s match will be just the fifth in series history. The Commodores own a 4-0 record against the Pirates in the series that began in 2019 when Vandy first joined the AAC.

Last season, Vanderbilt topped East Carolina, 19-12, capped off by nine Commodore goals in the final quarter.
