NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the sixth time this season, No. 12 Vanderbilt women’s tennis will face a top-15 opponent, as the Commodores travel down to Baton Rouge, Louisiana for a battle with No. 11 LSU on Saturday at the LSU Tennis Complex.
Vanderbilt (16-4, 6-2 SEC) is off to its best start since 2018, the same season in which the Dores finished as an NCAA runner-up. The black and gold have won five matches in a row, all against SEC opponents, marking the team’s longest conference streak since 2019. Vandy enters Saturday unbeaten on the road, notching victories against No. 7 Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi State and Alabama this season.
LSU (11-5, 4-4 SEC) has lost its last three matchups against top-15 teams, and is 5-4 overall against ranked opponents. The Tigers are coming off a 4-0 takedown of Missouri on Thursday. In the all-time series, Vanderbilt holds a 32-17 advantage. LSU has dropped three straight to the Dores, including last season’s 5-2 result in Nashville.
Kayla Cross tops the Tigers in the ITA singles rankings at No. 45. LSU has three other players ranked in singles play: No. 58 Cadence Brace, No. 88 Ella McDonald and No. 104 Kinaa Graham. In doubles, the Tigers are led by No. 11 Cross and McDonald. The pair have produced four wins together this season, three of which have come against ranked opponents. McDonald is also in the doubles rankings at No. 67 alongside Kenna Erickson.
