The word is you already have a job offer when you graduate from Vanderbilt in May? “Yes. It’s an Investment Banking Analyst position at Avondale Partners here in Nashville.”

What would you like to be doing five or ten years from now? “Hopefully I’ll start my own business with (Alex) Feinberg.”

Who is your best friend on the team? “That’s hard to say. The seniors are a pretty close-knit group since we’ve been together for four years.”

What size of a bat do you use? “I’m all over the place. I use a 34, 33: back and forth with whatever feels right.”

How did you do using a wooden bat over the summer? “I actually had a pretty solid summer. I hit in the five hole for Newport. We made it to the championship game but finished second. I had a lot of hard hit balls, extra base hits and RBI.”

What are your goals for this season? “You always have to set your goals high. We want to make the SEC tournament, which is first and foremost (priority) because if you make the SEC tournament, you’re probably going to make a Regional. We made it to the Regional last year. We were on the doorsteps of a Super Regional. Our goal this year is to make it to Omaha (the College World Series). Vanderbilt in the past has made Super Regionals. We hosted a Regional last year for the first time. Now we want to host a Super Regional and make it to Omaha. That’s our main goal and objective right now.”

What advice has Coach Corbin given you that stands out the most? “He preaches about routines and consistency. He wants us to be able to have something to fall back on, even if we’re not doing great individually or as a team. I have a routine every day for practice and for games. I get down (to Hawkins Field) at a certain time. There are certain things that have to get done to get myself ready for a game. It’s nice to have something to turn back on when the game speeds up. When it’s not going my way, I can go back to my basics and routines in order to get consistent.”

Who is the funniest guy on the team and why? “I’m going to go with David Macias just because of his impersonations and quick wit.”

Which uniform do you prefer to wear? “I have to go with the old school uniforms. Through the grapevine, I’ve heard we might have even another uniform in the works. We’ll see what happens.”
