VANDERBILT RE-VU
South Carolina outlasted Vanderbilt 6-4 in 13 innings on Sunday to clinch the series. Tony Kemp led the Dores with two doubles and two RBI. The Commodores used a seven-run fourth and stellar pitching to beat the Gamecocks 12-4 Saturday. Tyler Beede earned his first collegiate win with six strong innings while Brian Miller notched his second save with three innings of work. South Carolina jumped on Vanderbilt early and held off a late rally to win the opener 8-3 Friday night. Kevin Ziomek was tagged for six runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings in the loss. The Commodores posted the team’s third shutout victory with a 6-0 blanking of Tennessee Tech Tuesday night. Sam Selman and Brian Miller combined on a four-hit shutout. Joel McKeithan led the offense with a career-best four hits.

WALK THIS WAY
Junior infielder Anthony Gomez drew two walks in Sunday’s loss to South Carolina marking the first time since his freshman season that the aggressive Gomez has drawn multiple walks in a game. Gomez established a career-high with three walks against Middle Tennessee State on April 21, 2010. He has already surpassed his total from last season (9 in 66 games) this year and enters Tuesday with 11 walks in 28 games. As a team the Commodores are averaging 3.75 walks per game.
ERRORS PILING UP
The Commodores have committed 50 errors in 28 games this season for an average of 1.79 per game. Vanderbilt has made at least one error in 22 games this season and two or more in 14 games.
RED-HOT NAVIN
Spencer Navin enters Tuesday’s tilt riding an eight-game hitting streak. The Commodores’ catcher is 11-for-29 (.379) with three runs scored and two RBI. All 11 of his hits have been singles. His eight-game streak is the longest current streak on the team and third longest this season (Kemp 11, Gomez 10).
SEEING THE SKYHAWKS
Vanderbilt hosts UT-Martin Tuesday night at Hawkins Field. The Commodores are 7-1 all-time against the Skyhawks in a series dating back to 1995, when the Skyhawks won their lone game of the series 11-9. Last season the Dores dominated in a 10-3 victory. T.J. Pecoraro earned his fourth win of the season with three innings of work and Sam Selman tossed one inning of relief.
