Baseball Opens Season at Public Storage Classic

2/16/2006

Vanderbilt opens the 2006 campaign in California at the Public Storage Classic, hosted by USC. The Commodores will face tough competition in the three-game tourney, starting with San Diego Friday at 4 p.m. CT.

VU will then take on host USC on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT, before closing out the trip against Kansas on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.

All of the games will be at USC’s Dedeaux Field. The weather forecast for this weekend calls for temperatures in the low 60s with a chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

The Commodores are 2-1 in season openers under Tim Corbin and have won the last two entering Friday’s contest. The team is 53-41-2 all-time in season openers according to school records.

Vandy will be looking to win three openers in a row for the first time since winning four from 1996-99.
