The Commodores continued fall practice on Tuesday night at Hawkins Field wrapping up the practice with a three inning scrimmage. But if you were walking by The Hawk you might not have noticed it was Vanderbilt on the field wearing red and blue workout tops. The team debuted a red workout top last year at the SEC Tournament, which of course confused everyone in Birmingham, but this year Coach Corbin added a blue top to the rotation as well.
Anthony Gomez and Mike Yastrzemski show off their hard work in the weight room and the team’s new workout jerseys.

During the scrimmage the offense shined with John Norwood delivering the big hit of the day with a two-run single. Connor Harrell belted a solo home run off the scoreboard and Conrad Gregor knocked in Jack Lupo, who singled, in the final frame.
On the mound, freshman Philip Pfeifer made his fall debut working a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Keenan Kolinsky, Adam Ravenelle, Sam Selman, Brian Miller and Will Clinard each worked an inning.
That’s Three
The Red Team worked out of a first inning jam turning a 9-6-3 triple play. The Blue Team had a hit and run on when Anthony Gomez lined out to Mike Yastrzemski in right field to start the triple play.
Big Leaguers are back
Former Commodores Pedro Alvarez and Mike Baxter were at Hawkins Field on Tuesday. Alvarez wrapped up his second season with the Pirates while Baxter finished the season with the Mets.
