NASHVILLE ­­— Fresh off a series sweep of Tennessee over the weekend, Vanderbilt continues its seven-game home stand with a contest against Tennessee Tech Wednesday night at 6 p.m. CT at Hawkins Field.

The Commodores remained No. 1 in the nation for the ninth time in 10 weeks in three of the five polls. Baseball America, the ESPN/Sports Weekly Coaches Poll and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers kept VU at No. 1, while Collegiate Baseball and Rivals.com had the team ranked No. 2.

Vanderbilt (35-8, 12-6 SEC) swept Tennessee last weekend after dropping its first two midweek games of the season to Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee. Sophomore righthander Brett Jacobson (5-1, 3.17 ERA) is slated to take the hill for the Commodores.

Tennessee Tech is 20-19 overall and 7-8 in Ohio Valley action after sweeping Tennessee-Martin in Cookeville over the weekend. Senior righty Justin Fields (1-1, 7.89 ERA) is the expected starter for the Golden Eagles.

The Commodores hold a 36-20 series lead, including a 9-5 win a year ago.

After tomorrow’s contest, VU will close out its home stand with a three-game series against Florida this weekend. Game times are set for 7 p.m. on Friiday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Saturday game will be televised by SUN Sports, while Sunday’s contest will be shown regionally on CSS.

Reserved tickets are still available for Saturday’s contest and can be purchased by calling the Vanderbilt ticket office (615) 322-GOLD. General admission tickets are available for all three games and are available two hours prior to the game.
