NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 13/10-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team will be the No. 3 seed in the 2026 NCAA Athens Regional, as the Commodores begin their postseason run May 18-20 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Georgia.
The Commodores learned of their NCAA Regional destination on Wednesday during the NCAA postseason selection show on GOLF Channel. Vanderbilt is one of 13 squads selected to play in the Athens Regional, hosted by Georgia, with No. 1-ranked Auburn being the top-seeded team.
“This is the most fun time of the year,” said Scott Limbaugh, Thomas F. Roush, M.D., and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Golf Head Coach. “Our guys have gotten through finals, and now we are excited to begin the NCAAs. It is like a new season with new opportunities for this team. We understand that no assumptions can be made and everything we do has to be done together. I believe in this group, and now it’s about having fun and embracing the experience as a family. We have to trust and stay in our process, stay curious, and enjoy each day we have together.”
The 54-hole tournament tees off May 18 at the University of Georgia Golf Course. Teams will play one 18-hole round per day. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site (six total) will advance to the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, May 29-June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa North Course in Carlsbad, California.
Vandy heads to Athens, Georgia, ranked No. 13 in the nation according to the CLIPPD rankings, while the Commodores came in at No. 10 in the latest Bushnell/GOLFWEEK Coaches Poll.
Other teams competing at the Athens Regional are, in order of seeding, No. 1/1 Auburn, No. 12/12 Illinois, No. 13/10 Vanderbilt, No. 24/23 BYU, RV/No. 25 Georgia, Louisville, Kansas, Northwestern, Charleston, Rice, Southern Miss, Harvard and Howard.

It is the 19th overall NCAA Regional appearance for Vanderbilt, and the 13th-straight season the Dores have earned an NCAA Regional bid. Vandy has advanced out of the NCAA Regional round in each of the last 11 seasons. Overall, the Commodores have advanced to the NCAA Championship 14 times, 11 of which have come under Limbaugh’s direction.
The Commodores have captured a total of three NCAA Regional titles in program history. The Dores won back-to-back regional titles during the 2020-21 (Kingston Springs) and 2021-22 (Palm Beach Gardens) campaigns.
Vanderbilt posted a runner-up finish at last season’s NCAA Amherst Regional to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 11th-straight time. Vandy has had a golfer win the individual title at each of its last two NCAA Regional events, as Jackson Van Paris won the Amherst Regional in 2025 and William Moll finished first at the 2024 West Lafayette Regional. Moll and Van Paris are the only two Commodores in school history to earn medalist honors at an NCAA Regional.
