Anthem, Festivities Set for Sunday

Singer-songwriter Mickey Guyton to perform national anthem

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Mickey Guyton, an accomplished country singer-songwriter, will perform the national anthem prior to Sunday’s David Williams Fall Classic.

Guyton, from Arlington, Texas, made Country Aircheck history as the highest one-week add total for a debut first single with her 2015 song, “Better Than You Left Me.” Three years ago, she was nominated by the Academy of Country Music for the best new female vocalist.

First pitch between Vanderbilt and Michigan is scheduled for noon and can be seen on SEC Network Plus. Admission is free and gates will open at 10 a.m. The first 300 fans will receive a Commodores mini desk helmet, while all fans will receive a shirt. Kids eighth grade and younger are invited to join the teams on-field pregame for Guyton’s performance, as well as run the bases after the contest.

The David Williams Fall Classic honors the late Vanderbilt vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and athletic director. Vanderbilt will be partnering with Music City Baseball, the Negro League Baseball Museum and Nike for the occasion. The Commodores will compete as the Nashville Stars, while the Wolverines will partake as the Detroit Stars.
