An all Dore final on the Cape

Aug 13, 2013

Five Commodores are playing in the Cape Cod League this summer and all five will compete in the three-game championship series that begins today at Cotuit.

Vince Conde and Jared Miller represent Eastern Division champ Orleans while Rhett Wiseman, Brian Miller and Adam Ravenelle suit up for Western Division champ Cotuit. Orleans swept their way into the championship series, taking two straight from Chatham. The Kettleers took down Bourne to win the Western Division with Brian Miller notching the save in a 4-3 victory.

The five Dores on the Cape have been major contributors for their respective squads. Wiseman was named a league All-Star and enters the championship series hitting .294 with four home runs and 25 RBI to go along with his team-high 14 doubles. Brian Miller has been at the back of the bullpen for the Kettleers with five saves this summer with fellow reliever Adam Ravenelle solid with 16 strikeouts in 17 innings.

Jared Miller has started five games and pitched in three more in relief for the Firebirds. The big lefty has had a solid summer and enters the championship series with a 2.29 ERA. Miller tossed seven scoreless innings and scattered three hits with eight strikeouts his last time out. Conde has been hot in the Firebirds’ five playoff games going 5-for-16.

Game 1 of the series is at 3 p.m. CT today at Cotuit with Game 2 moving to Orleans tomorrow night at 6 p.m. If a third game is necessary, the series will switch back to Cotuit at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
