NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tuesday afternoon the ITA released singles and doubles selections for the 2015 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships held Nov. 12-15th in Flushing, New York at the Billie Jean King Indoor National Tennis Complex.
Vanderbilt’s Frances Altick and Sydney Campbell will be representing the Commodores in singles action during the three-day tournament hosted by Columbia University. This prestigious event features a 32-player singles draw and a 20-team doubles draw for men and women.
A senior from Monroe, La., Altick gained automatic entry into the tournament after not dropping a single set on her way to earn the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Singles Title on Oct. 19th. The 2015 NICC will be Altick’s first appearance in the tournament, and the All-SEC and NCAA tournament team member looks to make waves amongst a field comprised of the nation’s top talent.
As the No. 7 singles player in the country, Nashville’s own Campbell earned at at-large bid and looks to head back to the big apple or the second year in a row. Last season as a sophomore Campbell lost in the opening round of play, only to defeat No. 3 Hayley Carter the next day.
