COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 6 Vanderbilt fell 9-0 at No. 3 Texas A&M on Saturday night at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies jumped out to an early lead with five runs on two hits and an error in the bottom of the first.
The Dores threatened with a pair of runners in scoring position after a two-out double by Braden Holcomb in the top of the second but were unable to scratch a run across.
Texas A&M plated two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up by seven.
JD Thompson took over on the mound in the fifth and threw 1.1 scoreless innings followed by Luke Guth who kept the Aggies off the board over the next two frames.
Texas A&M extended its lead to 9-0 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Davis Diaz went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Vandy offense.
Vanderbilt and Texas A&M will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. for the series finale on SEC Network +.
