ABCA All-South Region Selections 6-18-04 Mt. Pleasant, Mich. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) is pleased to announce the All-South Region First and Second teams. The 13-member first team will be placed on the national ballot for ABCA All-American honors which will be announced during the College World Series. The South Region First Team is made up of 12 players from the SEC and one player from Conference USA. The University of Florida and Vanderbilt tied for the most first team selections with three while Vanderbilt and Southern Mississippi led all teams with four selections to the two-team squad. The South Region consists of 34 schools and is one of eight regions that make up the ABCA All-American selection process. Warner Jones, Ryan Klosterman, and Jeremy Sowers were named to the first team, while Cesar Nicolas was named to the second team. All four players earned SEC All-Tournament team honors and led the Commodores to their most historic season with a school record 45 wins and first ever appearance in the NCAA Super Regional.
