NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With a new look for both the Southeastern Conference and FirstBank Stadium in 2024, the Vanderbilt football team has set its schedule for next fall.
The highlights include a Week 1 showdown with Virginia Tech, visits from a pair of College Football Playoff semifinalists and trips to Auburn and LSU.
With the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC next fall, the traditional division format will no longer exist. Vanderbilt will face former division-mates Missouri, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee, while also taking on Alabama, Texas, Auburn and LSU. The nonconference slate includes the Hokies, Alcorn State, Georgia State and Ball State.
FirstBank Stadium will have a new look and feel as Vandy United projects continue with north end zone seating and concourse will be available to fans. Fans will get their first look Aug. 31 against Virginia Tech, followed by a home date with Alcorn State on Sept. 7.
The Dores hit the road for the first time on Sept. 14 traveling to Atlanta to face Georgia State. SEC play begins on the road at Missouri, a New Year’s Six team in 2023, on Sept. 21 before an open date on Sept. 28.
Alabama will travel to Nashville for the first time since 2017 on Oct. 5 before Vandy visits Kentucky on Oct. 12. After a final nonconference game with Ball State on Oct. 19, Texas and Vanderbilt will meet for the first time since 1928.
Vandy visits the Plains at Auburn for the first time since 2016 on Nov. 2, then returns home to host South Carolina on Nov. 9. The second open date is on Nov. 16, followed by Vanderbilt’s first trip to Baton Rouge since 2009.
The season concludes with the 119th meeting against in-state rival Tennessee at FirstBank Stadium on Nov. 30.
