Vanderbilt to open the season at Hawai'i

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In conjunction with the Southeastern Conference, the Vanderbilt football program has announced its complete 2022 football schedule.

Head coach Clark Lea will open his second season at Vandy with a trip to Hawai’i on Aug. 27. The nonconference slate will continue with home games against Elon (Sept. 3) and Wake Forest (Sept. 10) before concluding at Northern Illinois (Sept. 17).

SEC play opens Sept. 24 with a trip to Alabama before an open date Oct. 1. Ole Miss travels to Nashville on Oct. 8 before consecutive road games at Georgia (Oct. 15) and at Missouri (Oct. 22).

Following a second open date Oct. 29, the schedule enters the stretch run starting Nov. 5 with a home game against South Carolina and a trip to Kentucky on Nov. 12. Florida (Nov. 19) and Tennessee (Nov. 26) visit Vanderbilt Stadium to conclude the season.

SCHEDULE NOTES

  • Vanderbilt will be facing Hawai’i for the first time
  • The meeting with Elon will be the second in the all-time series (Vanderbilt leads 1-0)
  • Vandy leads the all-time series with the Demon Deacons 10-6
  • Northern Illinois and Vanderbilt will meet for the fifth time with the Commodores having won all four previous meetings in Nashville
  • Vanderbilt and Alabama meet as divisional crossover opponents for the first time since 2017 and just the second time since 2011
