ATHENS, Ga. – As the 42nd annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships conclude on Monday, the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will have a player competing for a flight championship.
Coming off a three set win in the semifinals of Division II, Alex Zotov will face Georgia’s Hermus Pieters at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Zotov dropped the first match, 6-7, to Gabriel Flores of Miami but claimed the match with 6-2 wins in the next two sets.
In the semifinals of singles Division I, Ryan Lipman fell to No. 1 seed Guillermo Gomez of Georgia Tech, 6-3, 6-3.
The Commodores will return to Georgia next weekend to play in the Georgia Tech Classic in Atlanta.
