TULSA, Okla. – Kris Yee advanced to the third round of the pre-qualifying stage at the ITA All-American, as the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team had three Commodores in action on Saturday.
Yee took down George Washington’s Danil Zelenkov in a back-and-forth match 5-7, 7-6, 7-5. The Las Vegas, Nev., native will play Sunday morning against TCU’s Arnau Dachs for a chance to move on to the fourth round. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
Yee began the day of play for Vanderbilt by defeating Oklahoma’s Ryan Proctor 6-0, 6-0.
Rhys Johnson was eliminated from play after dropping his match to San Diego State’s Hunter Nicholas 6-2, 7-5.
Michael Retta was also eliminated in the first round on Saturday, as Retta was defeated by TCU’s Max Stevens 6-4, 6-2.
Jeff Offerdahl and Ryan Lipman will begin qualifying action on Monday, while Gonzales Austin begins play in the main draw on Thursday.
