Vandy swim team on the road to Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. – The Vanderbilt swim team will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to take on the Razorbacks in its second SEC matchup of the season on Friday.

Coming off a hard-fought victory in the Colorado quad meet, the Dores look forward to taking on their second SEC opponent of the season.

In last weekend’s quad meet against Air Force, Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines, several Dores saw success in the pool. The Commodores concluded the meet with eight first-place finishes and racked up even more podium finishes in their second win of the season.

Freshman Abby Burke had standout performances last week for the Dores competing in her third meet as a Commodore. The freshman earned two individual first-place finishes with a time of 24.08 in the 50 Y freestyle and a time of 52.64 in the 100 Y freestyle. Burke also swam in the Vanderbilt A relay as part of the 200 Y medley relay event, earning first place with a time of 1:45.27.

Burke and the Dores face an Arkansas squad currently 0-2 and fresh off a loss to SEC opponent South Carolina. This will be the 12th matchup between the Commodores and the Razorbacks in program history.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Keep up with your Dores in the pool by following @Vanderbiltswim on Twitter.
