Dores head west to Colorado to compete in quad meet

Colorado Springs, Co. – Fresh off an opening weekend that saw the Dores defeat Campbell in an 196-166 victory but fall short to No. 15 Missouri, Vanderbilt’s women’s swim team heads west to Colorado to compete in a quad meet against Air Force, Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines.

Hosting their home opener last weekend against Campbell, the Dores saw multiple podium finishes in the relay-style meet with the Commodores securing first-place victories in seven out of 10 events.

Taking on No. 15 Missouri Saturday, the Dores saw many swift times and strong finishes highlighting victories by the new Commodore freshmen who hope to continue their success this weekend in Colorado Springs.

Freshman Tonner DeBeer earned multiple top three finishes in her first two meets as a Dore. “It was very humbling to start out my first meet well. I’d been waiting so long to swim in my first meet for Vanderbilt, and it was awesome sharing that experience with my teammates, especially in relays. It makes me even more excited for the rest of the season,” said the freshman.

“I hope that we bring the same energy that we had in our first two meets into the meet this weekend. We have some details to work on, but I hope we see improvement and have a fun time racing Saturday,” said DeBeer.

This weekend’s quad meet marks the first time in program history the Dores will compete against Air Force, Colorado Mesa and Colorado School of Mines.

No. 50 Air Force hosts the quad meet coming off a home opener victory against Nebraska-Omaha 149-73.

Opening its season with a loss against Air Force Academy, Colorado Mesa enters the quad meet with a 0-4 record while Colorado School of Mines enters the meet after opening up its season with a third-place finish at Denver Relays.
