Vanderbilt to Make Preseason Debut Against Indianapolis

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt makes its first appearance of the year Saturday at noon when it faces the University of Indianapolis in an exhibition matchup at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

The Commodores are poised to begin their first year in the American Athletic Conference with Beth Hewitt at the helm for her first season as head coach. The Dores return seven starters from last season’s team, including two All-Big East performers in Julie Blaze and Emily Mathewson.

Vanderbilt was selected to finish second in the AAC last week, the program’s highest preseason conference selection since 2011 as a member of the American Lacrosse Conference.

Indianapolis is in its fourth season sponsoring women’s lacrosse, and last season it received a bid to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional. The Greyhounds finished the 2018 season 12th in DII Lacrosse Coaches Poll and start out the 2019 season in the same position.

The Dores kick off the 2019 regular season at home on Feb. 10 against Wagner.
