Commodores kick off fall slate at home

NASHVILLE – The Commodores begin the fall season with a couple of home scrimmages on Sunday. At 11 a.m. the Dores take on Huntsville and at 1:30 p.m. they face Kennesaw.

This is the first fall action for the Dores and the only chance to see them at home this fall. Practice for the team started just this week, but first-year head coach Beth Hewitt is ready for the early competition.

“We are really excited to get the opportunity to go and play someone other than ourselves so early in our fall season,” Hewitt said. “Our team has been working extremely hard and they are competing at a very high level.  Our staff is ready to see our players match up against another team, and it’s a great opportunity for us to break down film and just continue to get better as a group.”

After Sunday’s tilt, the Dores hit the road for their matchups with Delaware, Notre Dame and Princeton on Oct 6. They start off with Notre Dame at 10:30 a.m. followed by Delaware at 11:30 a.m. They wrap up the day at 1:30 p.m. against Princeton.

Vanderbilt wraps up its fall tilt with a trip at Louisville on Oct. 20. Times for those matchups are TBA.

The Dores are coming off an 8-9 finish last season that saw their season end before the conference tournament.
