Vanderbilt Commodores Tyler Griffin and Kim Perkins were awarded spots on Soccer Buzz’s 2005 Central All Regional Team, marking the first time in five years Vanderbilt’s women’s soccer program has received first team recognition by the magazine. The magazine has also named Commodore Coach Ronnie Hill as its Central Region Coach of the Year. Hill had earlier been voted the SEC’s Co-Coach of the Year. Vanderbilt was 16-3-3 in 2005 and made the NCAA Tournament field for the first time since 1998. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” /> Griffin’s honor is only one of the many the junior goalkeeper has earned in 2005. Griffin was most recently named an NSCAA All-American, following her SEC Defensive Player of the Year title. During the regular season play, Griffin boasted a .45 Against Goals Average and broke the Commodore record for scoreless minutes three times. Defensive junior Kim Perkins also received Buzz recognition for her performance in 2005. Perkins was a two-time recipient of the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week award and played over 1,600 minutes by the conclusion of the regular season. In addition, Perkins also became the third member of the Commodore squad to receive the SEC Defensive Player of the Week award. With the help of Griffin and Perkins, the team went 16-3-3 during the season and received its first invitation to the NCAA tournament since 1998. Junior Monica Buff and Freshman Katie Schulz were also awarded by Soccer Buzz with Second-Team honors. Soccer Buzz’s Central Region First Team: Kimber Bailey SMU Forward Sophomore
