COLUMBIA, S.C. — Vanderbilt men’s basketball had four individuals score in double figures on Tuesday, and as a result the Commodores extended their season-best win streak to four games.
Liam Robbins paced all players with 24 points, adding eight rebounds as Vandy defeated South Carolina 75-64 at Colonial Life Arena. Ezra Manjon finished with 15 points and six assists, Tyrin Lawrence had 11 points and seven rebounds, and Myles Stute contributed 10 points to help the Dores improve to 14-12 overall and 7-6 in the SEC.
It’s the first time in his collegiate career that Robbins—who was named the SEC Player of the Week earlier in the day—has scored 20 or more points in consecutive games.
It took the Commodores two and a half minutes to get on the board, but once Robbins drained a 3-pointer it sparked a 15-0 run and Vandy never looked back. Robbins would go on to post 13 points before the break, with Manjon contributing eight and Trey Thomas six as the Dores led 38-18 at the half.
Vanderbilt outrebounded the Gamecocks 48-34, including 19 offensive boards that resulted in 22 second-chance points. Jordan Wright matched Robbins for team-high honors with eight rebounds.
Meechie Johnson scored 19 points to lead South Carolina (9-17, 2-11 SEC), Chico Carter Jr. added 15 while Hayden Brown recorded 11.
The Dores will play host to Auburn next, with the teams tipping off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium.
