Williams Named to Haskins Spring Watch List

The Vanderbilt men's golf senior was one of 20 golfers named to the 2026 Haskins Award presented by Stifel Spring Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. – On Monday, Golfweek and the Golf Channel announced that Vanderbilt men’s golf senior Wells Williams was named to the 2026 Haskins Award presented by Stifel Spring Watch List.

It is Williams’ first spring watch list selection for the Haskins Award, which is known as the ‘Heisman of Golf’ as it is presented annually to the top male U.S. collegiate golfer. The Haskins Award honors the year’s most outstanding player, as voted on by college golfers, coaches, and golf media. Williams, who was also on the Haskins Award Final Fall Watch List, was one of 20 golfers named to the spring watch list.

The West Point, Mississippi, native is off to a strong start to his senior campaign. He is No. 5 in the latest PGA TOUR University rankings and No. 16 in the CLIPPD player rankings. Williams leads the Commodores with a 69.94 stroke average and has placed in the top 10 in five of his six tournaments.

The senior has carded under par in 11 of his 18 rounds this season. He has held a 54-hole score of par or better in all five tournaments, finishing under par in four events.  Williams’ score has counted in all 18 rounds during the 2025-26 campaign, as he has an active rounds-scored streak of 56 rounds dating back to the 2023-24 season.

Williams helped Vanderbilt win three team titles this season. He posted his highest finish of the season at The Invitational at the Honors Course in September, as the senior tied for third after carding 5-under 211. Williams twice posted a season-low 54-hole total of 6-under 210 and holds an 18-hole low of 6-under 66. The senior had a hole-in-one at the in Round 1 of the Ben Hogan Collegiate, as he dunked Hole 13.

Sargent’s First Top-10 Finish on the PGA TOUR
Vanderbilt alum Gordon Sargent collected his first top-10 finish on the PGA TOUR this past weekend, as the 2021 NCAA individual national championship tied for eighth at the 2026 Puerto Rico Open.

Sargent concluded the tournament with a 72-hole score of 11-under 277. He held round scores of 65-70-72-70 at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
