Williams Named Preseason All-American

Golfweek selected the Vanderbilt men's golf senior as a preseason third-team All-American

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt men’s golf senior Wells Williams has been named a preseason third-team All-American by Golfweek, the publication announced Thursday.

Additionally, Golfweek had Vanderbilt ranked No. 13 in its 2025-26 preseason men’s golf college rankings.

Williams, who recently debuted at No. 6 in the PGA TOUR University preseason rankings, is coming off a spectacular junior campaign with the Dores, as he earned an All-American honorable mention selection from both Golfweek and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). He was named to the 2024-25 All-SEC second team and was a GCAA All-American Scholar for his work on the course and in the classroom. Earlier this week, Williams was named to the Fred Haskins Award Fall Watch List.

The West Point, Mississippi, native held a scoring average of 70.65 last season and posted a counting score in all 37 rounds he played. Williams finished the 2024-25 campaign ranked No. 42 in the CLIPPD Scoreboard rankings. Over the summer, he represented the United States at the Arnold Palmer Cup, where he went 2-1-1 in his matches.

The All-American became the sixth Commodore in program history to win multiple tournaments in the same season. He captured first place at the Southwestern Invitational with a three-round total of 5-under 208, then he closed out the 2024-25 regular season by winning the Mason Rudolph Championship.

His 54-hole score of 198 at the Mason Rudolph is tied for the fifth-lowest three-round total in program history. Additionally, Williams’ 15-under vs. par is tied for the fifth-lowest 54-hole vs. par score posted by a Commodore. His season-low 18-hole score of 8-under 63 set in Round 1 of the Mason Rudolph tied him for the fifth-lowest single-round total in program history.

Williams has collected three individual wins over his three seasons at Vanderbilt, making him just one of seven golfers in program history to win three or more tournaments. He enters his senior year holding a career scoring average of 71.18. The All-American has carded par or better in 42 career rounds, while he has posted six top-10 finishes as a Commodore.

Humphrey Collects First Pro Win
Vanderbilt alum Theo Humphrey, Class of 2018, collected his first professional win last weekend, as he took medalist honors at the Manitoba Open on PGA TOUR Americas.

The Pro Dore started Round 2 in a tie for fourth at 5-under. The 2018 SEC Golfer of the Year surged to the top of the leaderboard with the help of seven birdies, as he ended the round at 6-under. Humphrey concluded the shortened 36-hole tournament with a score of 11-under 131 to claim his first pro circuit title.

With a win at the Manitoba Open, Humphrey is in a strong position to earn his Korn Ferry Tour card by virtue of a top-10 finish in the Fortinet Cup points list. He currently sits at No. 6 with three events remaining on the season.
